Out of the Blue is Olivetheboy’s sophomore EP, released April 11, 2025 via Loop Music/Columbia Records. 8 tracks, 22 minutes, and it’s all about love in its messiest, most intimate forms.

The Konongo-born singer, real name Joel Bonsu, said the project marks a shift from his 2023 Avana EP. “I used to really write about me alone, but now it’s quite easy for me to tap into people’s feelings, tap into people’s experiences and write about them.” The result is a more mature, confident Olivetheboy who moves between late-night moods and tender morning-after moments.

Production is handled almost entirely by Beatzvampire, blending Afrobeats, soul, and contemporary pop. Olivetheboy called it “soothing and aggressive stuff put together” — you hear that contrast across the tracklist:

Convo – Reassurance for your partner. “It’s about sitting your partner down, letting them know that there’s no leaving anybody. It’s the two of us.”
Bend ft. Sarkodie – The grown-up track. About intimacy and sex. Sarkodie hops on and matches the energy. “Not for kids, man,” Olivetheboy warned.
Tattoo – One of the early viral cuts. Melodic, confessional, and already trending on TikTok.
Survivor ft. Qing Madi – More vulnerable, about holding on through relationship turbulence.

Out of the Blue follows the success of Asylum, which was nominated for Most Popular Song at the 2024 TGMA and made Olivetheboy Ghana’s most-streamed artist in 2023. This EP pushed him further into the conversation across Africa, with a planned UK, Europe, and US tour to back it up.
