“Far Away” is track 2 on Gyakie’s My Diary EP, released July 22, 2022. At 3:15 minutes, it’s the emotional core of the project — a blend of heartbreak lyrics and surprisingly bouncy production by iPappi.

Gyakie wrote it about loving someone who doesn’t appreciate the effort. She explains: “It talks about the sad parts of life… how one person could risk it all for somebody that they love, and then the person ends up not appreciating it. The fact that you might go to the ends of the earth to make sure the person you love is actually OK, but they never do appreciate it is what this song is mainly about”.

The contrast is what makes it hit. The production is bright and uplifting, with soulful horns, live percussion, and a neo-soul vibe that almost feels like a feel-good track. On the EP, “Far Away” follows the gratitude of “Audience” and shows the flip side of Gyakie’s diary. If “Audience” is her thanking God for the journey, “Far Away” is her dealing with the people who didn’t show up for it. It’s personal, relatable, and proof that Gyakie can sell pain over a danceable beat without losing either.
