Oluwa Ni by Reekado Banks ft. Sarkodie
Reekado Banks and Sarkodie link Nigeria and Ghana on Oluwa Ni and it’s spiritual. From Spotlight album. Released 1 September 2016. Mavin Records. El-Haar produced this one.
Oluwa Ni means “It’s God” in Yoruba. Reekado uses it to give all glory to God for his rise. From Next Rated at The Headies to Spotlight, he’s saying none of this is by power. It’s grace. The beat is mid-tempo Afrobeats with live percussion and soft keys. No aggression. Just gratitude.
Then Sarkodie pulls up. Ghana’s rap king switches to Twi and English, matching Reekado’s energy bar for bar. No flexing about girls or cars. Sark brings his own testimony. Hard work, faith, family. Two stars from different countries, same message. Oluwa Ni.
This was 2016 Reekado at his peak. Spotlight had bangers like Standard, Ladies and Gentlemen, and Katapot. Oluwa Ni was the soul of the album. It showed range. He could do dance tracks and still make you lift your hands. El-Haar’s production is clean. Church meets club.
In 2026, Oluwa Ni still plays at weddings, thanksgivings, testimonies. It’s a reminder that Reekado’s pen was always deep when he wanted it to be. And Sarkodie never misses on a cross-border link. Two MVPs. One God.
No controversy, no drama. Just Reekado Banks and Sarkodie giving thanks. If you’re building a 2016 Afrobeats playlist, Oluwa Ni is mandatory. Bigxmotion will update with full lyrics + verse breakdown as they drop.
