Wizkid – Morayo Album [Full Album Breakdown] – Nigeria

Wizkid’s Morayo is his most personal project yet. Released November 22, 2024 via Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records, the 16-track album is a tribute to his late mother, Juliana Morayo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023. In Yoruba, “Morayo” translates to “I see joy” and “I see you”, and the album leans into grief, healing, and introspection.

Sound and Themes
Morayo shifts Wizkid’s sound toward R&B and soul with subtler Afrobeats touches. The production is warm and reflective, with live instrumentation and slower tempos compared to his earlier dance-heavy records. Themes of loss, legacy, and love run through the record, especially on the opener Troubled Mind and the closing prayer Pray.

Tracklist & Features
The album runs 47:18 across 16 tracks. Key cuts and features include:

Troubled Mind
Karamo
Kese (Dance)
Bad Girl ft. Asake

Piece of My Heart ft. Brent Faiyaz
Break Me Down

A Million Blessings
Après Minuit ft. Tiakola
Bad for You ft. Jazmine Sullivan

Standout collaborations include Piece of My Heart with Brent Faiyaz, which hit No. 4 on the US Afrobeats Songs chart, and Bad Girl with Asake. French artist Tiakola and R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan also feature.

Reception & Context
Morayo was announced as a tribute to Wizkid’s late mother. Singles Kese (Dance) and Piece of My Heart dropped ahead of the album and built early momentum. The project follows More Love, Less Ego from 2022 and marks his sixth studio album. Critics noted the mature, stripped-back direction, with the shift toward R&B and introspection being a major talking point.

Why It Matters
This is Wizkid at his most vulnerable. After years of global hits and stadium tours, Morayo strips back the party energy to focus on family, memory, and healing. It’s also a bridge between Afrobeats and R&B, pulling in collaborators from Nigeria, the US, and France without losing the core sound that made him a global name.
