Sarkodie Returns with ‘Jamz 2’ Album and Announces 20th Anniversary Concert – Ghana

Sarkodie is closing a 20-year loop. On June 4, 2026, the Ghanaian rap legend announced Jamz 2, the sequel to his 2010 breakout album, set for release on August 22, 2026. Alongside the album, he confirmed a one-night-only concert at Accra Sports Stadium on October 10, 2026, to mark 20 years since his first freestyle went viral on Adom FM in 2006.

Jamz 2 will feature 16 tracks that revisit the raw, street-focused sound of early Sarkodie while incorporating modern production. The album was recorded between Accra and Atlanta, with production from MOG Beatz, Kuvie, and American producer Hit-Boy. Features include Black Sherif, Amerado, and a long-awaited collaboration with Obrafour. In a press statement, Sarkodie called it “a full-circle moment” meant to bridge old and new Ghanaian hip-hop. Lead single No Pressure drops June 21, with a video shot in Tema and Nima to reflect the album’s grassroots theme.

The 20th anniversary concert is being billed as “The Rapperholic Experience: 20 Years”. Promoters say it will run for 3 hours with a live band, a 50-person choir, and guest appearances from every major Ghanaian artist Sarkodie has worked with since 2006. Ticket pre-sale for MTN subscribers opened June 5 and sold out in 6 hours. General sales start June 9. Proceeds from the show will fund the Sarkodie Foundation’s youth mentorship program, which has supported over 2,000 students since 2014.

This announcement ends a quiet 18-month period for Sarkodie, who spent most of 2025 in the studio after wrapping his No Fear world tour. He used the time to mentor younger artists under his SarkCess Music label and launch a podcast on African hip-hop history. Industry watchers say Jamz 2 is his response to debates about the state of Ghanaian rap and his place in it.

Sarkodie’s influence remains unmatched in Ghana. He’s the most awarded Ghanaian rapper, with 3 BET nominations and a BET Award win in 2012. His ability to blend Twi rap with global appeal has kept him relevant across three decades of Ghanaian music. Fans online have called the announcement “the cultural reset we needed”.

For Ghanaian hip-hop, this feels like a statement year. With Jamz 2 and the Accra show, Sarkodie is positioning himself not just as a veteran, but as a bridge for the next generation.
