A throwback clip of Medikal and Sister Derby has resurfaced online and Ghanaians can’t get enough.
The video shows the former couple sharing a romantic moment during the Ghana vs Croatia match at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Medikal is seen planting a kiss on Sister Derby’s cheek as they cheer on the Black Stars, both draped in Ghana flags and smiling.
The clip started trending again this week after a fan page reposted it on X, years after their highly publicized breakup in 2018. Fans flooded the comments reminiscing about what many called “Medikal’s soft era” with Sister Derby.
“Back when Medikal was calm and Derby had him in a chokehold,” one user wrote. “This was real love before the industry changed him.”
Another posted: “Why do exes look better together years later? The nostalgia is crazy.”
Medikal, real name Samuel Adu Frimpong, and Sister Derby, born Deborah Vanessa Owusu-Bonsu, dated publicly for about three years before splitting. Their breakup was messy, with both artists releasing diss tracks aimed at each other. Medikal went on to marry and later divorce Fella Makafui, while Sister Derby has remained vocal about relationships and women’s rights.
Neither Medikal nor Sister Derby has reacted to the resurfaced video as of press time. The clip continues to rack up views across TikTok, X, and Instagram, with many fans calling them “endgame that got away.”
The 2014 Ghana vs Croatia match ended 2-1 in favor of Croatia, but for Ghanaian social media, Medikal and Sister Derby’s moment is the real highlight going viral in June 2026.
