Stonebwoy Condemns Accra Floods, Urges Citizens and Government to Act Now
Stonebwoy is done with the talk. 3 July 2026. After torrential rains flooded Accra for the third time in 2 months, the BHIM Nation president called out both citizens and the government. His message: “We can’t keep losing lives every rainy season. Act now.”
The floods hit hard this week. Kaneshie, Odawna, Circle, and parts of East Legon were submerged. Videos show cars floating, homes destroyed, and traders losing everything. NADMO confirms 6 dead, dozens displaced. It’s the same story every June-July, but 2026 feels worse.
Stonebwoy posted a video from Ashaiman at 6 AM. He stood in knee-high water outside his childhood area. “I grew up here. Nothing has changed in 20 years. Same gutters. Same promises. Same funerals,” he said. The video hit 1M views before noon.
He didn’t just blame government. He called out citizens too: “We throw rubbish in the drains, then cry when water enters our homes. But government also collects taxes. Where are the drainage systems? Where is the town planning?” He tagged the Accra Mayor and Ministry of Works and Housing.
This isn’t clout. Stonebwoy has history here. In 2015, he donated to June 3rd flood victims. In 2022, his BHIM Concert raised funds for Appiatse. In 2024, he funded a borehole project in Ashaiman to reduce water crisis. Now in 2026, he’s using his platform to force accountability.
The reaction is split. Shatta Wale reposted with “Facts only.” Lydia Forson said “Thank you for speaking.” But some NDC/NPP supporters turned it political. Stonebwoy replied: “This is not NDC or NPP. This is life and death. My fans are drowning.”
The context: Accra’s drainage system was built for 2 million people. Population is now 5.4 million. Climate change means heavier rains. But experts say 60% of flooding is caused by choked gutters from plastic waste. Stonebwoy wants “citizen discipline AND government action.” He announced a BHIM clean-up at Odaw River this Saturday and challenged the President to join.
The bigger play: Stonebwoy is stepping into the statesman role. While Sarkodie tackles continental issues, Stonebwoy handles local crisis. He’s not running for office. He’s reminding leaders why artists matter. In Ghana 2026, music stars are the opposition with the loudest microphones.
If the government responds with real drainage work, Stonebwoy’s pressure worked. If not, expect more flood videos and more angry tweets. Either way, this is Stonebwoy at his most powerful — using fame for his people.
If you’re in Accra, stay safe. If you’re in power, start digging. Bigxmotion will track what happens after the cameras leave.
