Why ‘curtains’ covered parts of auditorium at Stonebwoy’s Wembley concert – DJ Slim explains

Media personality DJ Slim has broken down the real reason curtains were used to cover sections of the OVO Arena Wembley during Stonebwoy’s BHIM Festival concert in London.

Speaking on his show `Street Is Watching`, DJ Slim explained that the decision was planned and had nothing to do with low ticket sales.

According to DJ Slim, curtains are commonly used in big arenas when organisers expect a specific crowd size. “Instead of leaving the upper tiers empty and making the venue look cavernous, they block them off. It makes the place feel more intimate for the fans who showed up,” he said.

He added that those upper sections were not even sold from the start, meaning it was part of the original plan.

The second reason is sound. “Large empty rooms like the OVO cause echoes. Heavy fabric curtains absorb sound waves and reduce reverberation. That makes the music and vocals sound much clearer,” DJ Slim read from a Google search on air.

For a live concert like BHIM Festival, clear sound is everything.

DJ Slim also pointed to production value. Dark curtains help with lighting. “Anyone in production knows this. Dark fabrics create infinity. It makes the artist on stage pop and keeps the focus on the performer, even for fans sitting far away.”

Stonebwoy made history on August 15, 2026, becoming the first Ghanaian artiste to headline the 12,500-capacity OVO Arena Wembley.

It was the first time BHIM Festival was held in the UK. The night was a full celebration of Ghanaian music, culture and heritage.

Top artistes came out to support, including Kwabena Kwabena, Tiwa Savage, Mr P, Ofori Amponsah, DopeNation, Juma Jux and Samini.

The curtains were not a mistake. They were used for better sound, better visuals, and a better fan experience.
