Never Raise A Child In The Bronx – Cardi B Reacts To Killing Of Ghanaian Teen Javits Frimpong

American rapper Cardi B has reacted to the tragic killing of 15-year-old Ghanaian student Javits Frimpong, saying the incident is the reason she would never raise a child in the Bronx.

Javits Frimpong was shot while on his way to school in the Bronx last Thursday, an incident that has sparked outrage among Ghanaians at home and abroad.

Speaking on the case, Cardi B, who herself grew up in the Bronx, said she would not raise her kids in the Bronx, Harlem, Washington Heights or in New York public schools, describing life in those areas as a game of survival.

According to her, Jarvis is the reason why she would never raise a kid in the Bronx, Harlem, Washington Heights. She added that she would never raise a child in a New York public school or in the hood.

The Grammy winner also questioned the mindset of the teenagers being sought by police over the shooting, asking how someone could wake up and decide to kill a person who had done nothing wrong to them.

She further advised New Yorkers who want to start families to consider leaving the city, claiming that many young people there have become very aggressive.

Javits Frimpong had moved from Ghana to the United States just a year before his death to join his father, Thomas Frimpong, a 60-year-old taxi driver. He was shot once around 9:30am on Thursday, October 29, 2026, near East 171st Street in the Claremont area of the Bronx and later died at the hospital. He was a student of DreamYard Preparatory School.

His father told CBS News New York that the school principal had called him a few days earlier about a fight involving his son and two other boys who were later suspended. He said his son had told him he was being bullied during lunch.

Police are currently searching for three teenage boys aged 16 to 18, who were last seen wearing all-black clothing and blue surgical masks. No arrests have been made yet, and authorities have not confirmed what led to the shooting or whether bullying was a factor.
