Do Better – Sarkodie Tells Black Community Abroad Over Javits Frimpong Murder

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has added his voice to the tragic killing of 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager Javits Frimpong in the United States, calling on some Black parents abroad to do better when it comes to raising children.

Javits Frimpong was shot dead by unidentified assailants around 9:20am on Thursday, October 29, 2026, while on his way to school in the Bronx, New York. His death has sparked outrage among Ghanaians at home and in the diaspora.

Reacting to the incident, Sarkodie said he was deeply saddened by the news and described murder as something that remains shocking in Ghana. According to him, every murder case in Ghana is widely reported and discussed because the society still finds such acts disturbing.

He noted that although Ghana and other African countries face many challenges, he is proud of the values and upbringing children receive even in tough neighborhoods.

The rapper expressed worry that fatal shootings appear to have become common in some parts of the Western world, making it hard for Ghanaians living there to feel safe.

Sarkodie also questioned what kind of upbringing would lead children to commit such violent acts. He said some Black brothers and sisters abroad need to do better in raising their kids and teaching them the right values.

He extended his condolences to the family of Javits, especially his parents, and prayed for strength and comfort for them. He said it is unfortunate to lose Javits in such a manner and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.

His comments come after the Ghanaian government also assured the family of support. Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said he has spoken directly with the father of the deceased, Thomas Frimpong, and promised to work with US authorities to ensure justice is served.

Ghana Permanent Mission in New York has also visited the family to console them, while government has called for a thorough investigation and pledged consular and legal support to the bereaved family.
