Kumasi stood still on Monday as Sarkodie arrived in the Ashanti Region ahead of his big concert.

On Monday, October 19, 2026, thousands of fans filled the streets of Oseikrom to welcome Sarkodie into Kumasi, five days before Rapperholic 2026. The rapper is set to headline the second Kumasi homecoming edition of Rapperholic at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

Videos from Kumasi show a long convoy of cars, motorbikes and fans walking beside Sarkodie’s vehicle as he moved through the city. In one clip, Sarkodie stood up through his car roof and used his phone to record the massive crowd that came to see him.

Traffic came to a halt in several areas as the convoy passed through town.

How It Started

The big welcome did not happen by accident. Days before his trip, Sarkodie posted on X asking his Kumasi fans to show him love when he arrives. Kumasi answered in grand style.

Rapperholic 2026 – Everything We Know

Sarkodie first announced the Kumasi date on August 24, 2026 on X. He wrote: “Oseikrom sorry for the wait!!! See yall 24th OCTOBER #RapperholicKumasi26.”

Later on Facebook, he told fans that on October 24, Baba Yara will not just be a stadium but will become “the center of Ghana.” He also wrote: “KUMASI, THIS IS YOUR OWN.”

As of today, the official performers list for Rapperholic 2026 has not been announced. Fans are still waiting to know who will join Sarkodie on stage at Baba Yara.

More Than A Concert

This year’s Rapperholic week is bigger than just the stadium show. Organizers have announced a side event called Kumasi Rising Music, Media and Tourism Dialogue happening at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Wednesday, October 21.

The dialogue will discuss how creative arts can boost tourism, investment and development in Ashanti Region.

Sarkodie has said he wants the Kumasi edition to become a yearly tradition, not just a one-time concert.

Remember Rapperholic 2025 Kumasi

The first homecoming edition happened at the same Baba Yara Stadium on September 27, 2025. It was historic because Rapperholic had been an Accra December event for over 10 years.

It rained heavily that night, but fans stayed. The lineup included Shatta Wale, Obrafour, Efya, Kofi Kinaata, Medikal and Kweku Smoke.

Two big moments trended: Obrafour, Sarkodie’s mentor, coming on stage and Shatta Wale performing with Sarkodie.

Why Kumasi Is Important To Sarkodie

Rapperholic started as an album in 2012 and grew into Ghana’s biggest rap concert brand. The success in Kumasi last year pushed Sarkodie to dream bigger. In a recent interview, he said the huge turnout in Kumasi in 2025 gave him confidence to target London’s O2 Arena for 2027.

Sarkodie is also preparing a new project – a five-track EP titled DeJaVu dropping on November 27, 2026.

Fans Reaction

Clips from Monday’s convoy have gone viral on X, TikTok and Facebook. Fans shared different angles of the crowd and praised Sarkodie’s connection with Kumasi.

When he announced the Kumasi date in August, many fans celebrated. Now with the arrival video, excitement for Saturday has doubled.

What Next

Sarkodie is already in Kumasi. Next is the KNUST dialogue on Wednesday, October 21, then the main show on Saturday, October 24 at Baba Yara.

If Monday is anything to go by, Baba Yara will be full. Stay with BigxMotion for lineup announcement, ticket updates and live coverage from Rapperholic 2026 Kumasi.
