Gyakie Announces ‘After Midnight’ EP and US College Tour – Ghana
Gyakie is leaning into her R&B side for the next chapter. On June 2, 2026, the Ghanaian singer announced her new EP After Midnight, set for release on July 18, 2026, alongside a 10-city US college tour starting September 2026. The announcement dropped with a moody visual teaser on Instagram showing Gyakie in a dimly lit studio, hinting at a softer, more intimate sound than her previous Afrobeats-heavy projects.
After Midnight will feature 6 tracks, all written and co-produced by Gyakie. According to her team, the EP explores themes of love, independence, and late-night introspection, pulling influences from 2000s R&B, Afrosoul, and highlife. Lead single No Pressure is expected to drop June 20, and early snippets shared on TikTok have already gained traction with over 50k creates in 48 hours. The project is being released under her Flip The Music imprint with distribution through EMPIRE.
The After Midnight: Campus Sessions tour will hit schools like Howard University, Spelman College, NYU, and UCLA between September and October 2026. Unlike her previous festival-heavy runs, these shows are designed as smaller, acoustic-leaning performances with Q&A segments. Tickets went live June 3, and three venues sold out within 24 hours. The tour is aimed at strengthening her connection with African diaspora students and building momentum ahead of a rumored debut album in 2027.
Gyakie has been steadily building her US presence since her 2021 hit Forever went viral on TikTok. She spent most of early 2026 in LA working with songwriters and vocal coaches, and After Midnight reflects that shift toward more vocal-driven, stripped-back production. Industry watchers note that this is a strategic pivot to position her alongside artists like Tems and Ayra Starr in the global R&B-Afrobeats crossover space.
Back home, the EP has sparked excitement among Ghanaian fans who’ve been asking for more live performances since her 2024 My Diary tour. Her team says a Ghana listening party and acoustic showcase are planned for Accra in late July, with proceeds going to her Gyakie Foundation’s music education program.
For Gyakie, this feels like a deliberate slowdown and refinement. Less hype, more vocal showcase. And if the early fan reaction is any sign, the intimate approach is resonating.
