Skyface SDW Goes Smooth & Melodic on “Mente”

Skyface SDW flips the script again on “Mente”. After “On The Grind” was all hustle, this one slows down. “Mente” is Spanish/Portuguese for “Lie” – and yeah, this is a relationship/trust record. Less drill, more emotion.

The beat is Afro-drill meets Afro-soul. Soft guitar, gentle drums, spacey pads. Way lighter than “Voodoo” or “Menwu”. Skyface switches to a melodic flow, almost singing on the hook. You hear the pain in his voice, not aggression.

What he’s saying
“Mente” is Skyface dealing with betrayal in love. He’s asking “why you lie to me?” while trying to figure out if the relationship is real. Bars about mixed signals, trust issues, and getting tired of games. It’s that “I care about you but you’re playing me” energy.

He keeps it street but vulnerable. No shouting, no threats. Just a guy who’s been hurt but still wants answers. The hook “Mente, mente” sticks because it’s simple and raw.

Why it stands out
Skyface keeps showing range. One week he’s “On The Grind” at 5am, next week he’s heartbroken asking “Mente”. Fans who only know him for drill will see another side here. The melody makes it playlist-friendly for both day and night drives.

If “Ca Va” was flirty, “Mente” is the morning-after when things get real.
