Wizkid Announces ‘Morayo’ Deluxe and Lagos Homecoming Show – Nigeria
The deluxe version will feature 7 new tracks, including two previously teased collabs with Asake and Tems. Sources close to the project say one of the songs was recorded during Wizkid’s trip to Accra earlier this year, and it leans heavily into highlife and Afrobeats fusion. Fans have been asking for more live instrumentation since Morayo leaned into smoother, R&B-heavy production, so the new tracks are expected to bring back some of that classic Starboy energy. The deluxe drops digitally on July 4, with physical vinyl and CD versions following in August.
The Lagos concert is the first Wizkid headliner show in Nigeria since 2023, and anticipation is already high. Eko Atlantic Stadium holds 50,000, and promoters say early bird tickets sold out in 18 minutes after going live. The show is being billed as “Morayo Live: Lagos Homecoming,” and insiders say it’ll include a full orchestra, guest appearances from Nigerian and Ghanaian artists, and a tribute segment to Wizkid’s late mother, after whom the album is named.
Wizkid has been quiet on the touring circuit for most of 2025 and early 2026, focusing on studio work and family time in London and Lagos. He made a surprise appearance at Coachella in April for a 15-minute set with Burna Boy, which reignited talk about a possible joint tour. But this Lagos show feels more personal. Posts from fans on X are calling it “the show we’ve been waiting for since Made in Lagos.”
Beyond the music, the event is expected to boost Lagos’ tourism and entertainment economy in August. Hotels near Victoria Island and Eko Atlantic are already seeing bookings spike, and local vendors are prepping for what could be one of the biggest concert weekends of the year. For Wizkid, it’s a chance to reconnect with his home crowd and close the Morayo era on his own terms.
